Zheng Qiang is an outstanding alumnus of Sichuan University. He graduated from polymer materials and enginnering specialty of Sichuan University  with master's degree and doctoral degree in 1988 and 1991.

From June 2012 to December 2016,He was rector and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Guizhou University.

Nowadays，He is  a professor, doctoral supervisor,  Minister of Education  “Yangtz River Scholar”， deputy secretary of the party committee of Zhejiang University.
